UL Week 7

The second to last week of this competition did not disappoint. Down another 3lbs and super satisfied about it! I worked out hard last week and it definitely paid off! :)

Last week's lunch was a good one. I would be lost without Trader Joes. I don't have a name for this salad but it would probably be something like, "Balsamic Chicken over Greens":

Ingredients:

  • 8-10 leaves of Red Oak Lettuce (found at TJs but be forewarned, it's not prewashed)
  • 4 oz TJs Grilled Balsamic & Rosemary Chicken Breast
  • 1/2 cup Cucumber
  • 4-5 Kalamata Olives
  • 1-2 Tbspn TJs Fat Free Balsamic Vinaigrette

It all adds up roughly to 200 calories, 4.5g fat, 3g fiber, 22 g protein

You can also add a little cheese if you want. I like TJ's Fat Free Feta or part-skim mozzarella.  I usually combine it with some kind of whole grain carb that is ~ 100 calories for a complete meal.

Anyway, I highly recommend it – healthy lunch full of flavor!

you're not better than bagging your own groceries, i promise.

There are pro's and con's about living in Brookline and being so close to a massive Trader Joes.  I mean... TJs is pretty fantastic considering the food is so good, fresh and cheap.  Let's also not forget the cheap wine - you had some at my wedding!  But it's a little too close to my house and I find that my legs are now programmed to walk in there straight from disembarking from the T.  :-/

Okay... so anyone who lives in Brookline KNOWS how busy this place is at any given hour or minute of the day.  So my question is, why do some people just stand there like counting sheep as the groceries are rang up and pile up.  Ok like... there is no belt... there is no bagger at the end of the belt.  Get it together and start bagging people!

It makes me SO mad.  There are obviously like 500 people in line behind you so then you make the poor cashier bag your groceries for you.  And of course the employees of Trader Joes are so super sweet and are trained to be so easy going that they'd never say anything.

I don't care if you want paper, plastic or bring your own - just bag your own gd groceries as they're rung up.  Don't worry, the nice cashier will help finish bagging while you pay.  It's really not rocket science.  GET IT TOGETHER.  You're not entitled.
