august is going to be crazy.

Well, life is about to get busy here in Denmark.

I signed my contract to work for Experian (my parent company from back in the US) and I start Monday August 2nd!  It’s been a long time coming, just so happy it has properly worked out.

Here’s where I’ll be working, not a typical American office, huh?:

It’s in Copenhagen East – pretty central!

My role will be to support Experian domains all over EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) to get some better ecommerce (webshop) functionality hence my title, eCommerce Project Manager.  I am also going to be working on SEO and web analytics for key sites and teaching local marketing teams how to do some of these bits on their own as well.  A variety of hats I suppose, which I like!

Of course as soon as I accepted the job all the other opportunities I’d been working came rolling in.  You snooze you lose, Denmark!  I hit the ground with rollerblades on (hitting the ground running just wouldn’t do it justice as we all know what a slow runner I am).

School starts August 7th.  Say goodbye to relaxing Saturdays.  I have school every Saturday from 9-3 for the next year and a half.  Awesome.  I also have plenty of assignments to work on during the week.

Then what else… oh let’s see… we have a Danish wedding on September 4th! We just mailed in the invites.  I have no idea how much time this is going to consume in planning but I know I don’t have a whole lot of it to go around so it should be interesting!

If you’re interested in any wedding details (any of you in the states are MORE THAN WELCOME – we’d love some guests from home!), I’m once again updating the ‘wedding’ section of the site.  Including the wedding blog. :)

To get me through all the celebration and the stress, my husband found proper Tequila in duty free in Latvia two weeks ago. God bless Latvia.

God bless tequila.

I'm Mrs. Als!

Well, I hope I still have some faithful readers out there because my blog has been completely neglected for a few weeks now. Kind of like my running and working out. But have to get back on the horse so to speak!  But the wedding... so worth all the time away from normal things :)

The wedding was hands down the best, ever, period. OMG! Loved every second of it, we were world's luckiest, most loved couple. Recapping the day/night with friends and family has been almost nonstop since, we're all going through a little wedding post partum.

I'm in the process of putting up pictures on the site, will let you know when they're all up. Right now I only have the engagement and rehearsal dinner pictures up. Our pictures turned out BEAUTIFUL thanks to my grandpa, uncle Paul and Amy Graybill.  We're (I'm) pretty much obsessed!

There are lots more things to explain about the wedding but I'm saving it for the wedding blog as part of my virtual scrapbook!

Christian left on Friday and it was definitely hard to say goodbye to my handsome hubby. He was so sick, poor thing.  Well, we both were!

I wanted to share a story with you all that restored my faith in the world a little bit. Christian realized once he got to Paris for his connecting flight that he was missing his wallet (a rubberband around a wad of cash and cards). Other than on the first plane the only other place it could be was in the Zipcar we took to the airport.

I woke up to Chr's message and called Zipcar but no one had reported it and the car was already rented for the whole day.  But low and behold technology prevails and Christian gets a Facebook message from a kid who found his "things". By the nature of Zipcars there could have been 20 different people in and out of it before this guy.  I was pretty sure the money had gone missing and only the cards were left.

Anyway I met what turned out to be a mere high school kid in front of Trader Joes and he handed me the wad, cash and all! I was so shocked and so happy. I handed him $50 for being such a great samaritan. Love Brookline, a real stand-up community!

This post feels like I'm rambling but that's only because I have so much to tell you, or my computer rather. Ahhhh.

More to come!

By the way - sending in my change of name to Social Security this week.  Should I keep my middle name as Michelle or change it to Curley?  Either way I'll go by Jill/Jillian Als.  Just wondering if I should honor Curley in my middle name, just sounds awful - Jillian Curley Als bahhh. Thoughts?

I AM SO HAPPY

I have these moments, undefined and inconsistent, that it just dawns on me... HOLY CRAP... I'M REALLY GETTING MARRIED.  I'M GOING TO BE A MRS.  Please don't call me Mrs.... ever.  Just call me Jill Bo Als... JK Despite all the joking I will not have the name Bo anywhere in my new name.  I will be Jillian Michelle Als.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I'm not scared, totally the opposite.  Whenever I have these feelings I get all those butterflies of something so exciting and new and simply wonderful.  Then my heart sinks just a little at the thought of how lucky I am.  Weird that my heart sinks but it's just this physical sensation where I'm reflecting inward and just completely in awe of all that I have.  I am the luckiest woman on the planet.

Christian Als I love you and I will love you until forever comes and goes and then for an eternity after that. :D

bride to be got down

I blogged about the sweetest bridal shower in the wedding blog but the bachelorette post seemed more fitting for o-m-g by far.

Not until we got off 93 at South Station did I realize we were going to District. District is a lounge/club and is all the rage these days. Nice choice, Steph! Once again - amazing MOH.

My girls had the perfect amount of bachelorette flair for me to wear. Something but not everything in the book :) A sash that said "Bride to be", a pin saying "bride" and a tiara/veil that I wore on and off throughout the night.

Anyway... we had a bottle of Grey Goose at our table plus a complimentary bottle of bub. Then a couple free rounds of shots and I was on my merry way to literally dancing the night away.

The pictures from this night are too humiliating not to share. No one can say we weren't having fun! A "SoVIP" photographer snapped some 'candids' for sure. O-M-G....

Last men standing at last call for a JDB remix of Pokerface at 1:55am were myself, Steph, Deanna and Sarah Root. Perfect night. Best bachelorette party ever! You only get one and this one was epic!

Thanks to all my girls that made the night as fabulous as it was. And thanks for letting me think I could really salsa dance... in the spotlight. HAHA! Xxx

one year later...

I am so busy between wedding planning, running and actual work that I can even be bothered to put my frequent sarcastic thoughts into words. However, I just realized that I've been blogging for about a year now. Wowwww. Who would have thought?

I figured this out because yesterday I had my annual health checkup at work. Last year I wrote about my awesome HDL and I am happy to report that I have even BETTER cholesterol this year. My HDL is 99... they want me to be anywhere over 60. :D That is most definitely the insane amount of exercise I'm doing.

Speaking of which... this exercise stuff is great and I'm seeing some results in my energy levels but it could be nice to shed a few sizes, as well. :P All in good time, I suppose. What matters right now is that (well, number one I'm getting married!) my dress fits perfectly. :D

Anyway, happy blogginversary to me and all three of my readers!
