I'm Mrs. Als!

Well, I hope I still have some faithful readers out there because my blog has been completely neglected for a few weeks now. Kind of like my running and working out. But have to get back on the horse so to speak!  But the wedding... so worth all the time away from normal things :)

The wedding was hands down the best, ever, period. OMG! Loved every second of it, we were world's luckiest, most loved couple. Recapping the day/night with friends and family has been almost nonstop since, we're all going through a little wedding post partum.

I'm in the process of putting up pictures on the site, will let you know when they're all up. Right now I only have the engagement and rehearsal dinner pictures up. Our pictures turned out BEAUTIFUL thanks to my grandpa, uncle Paul and Amy Graybill.  We're (I'm) pretty much obsessed!

There are lots more things to explain about the wedding but I'm saving it for the wedding blog as part of my virtual scrapbook!

Christian left on Friday and it was definitely hard to say goodbye to my handsome hubby. He was so sick, poor thing.  Well, we both were!

I wanted to share a story with you all that restored my faith in the world a little bit. Christian realized once he got to Paris for his connecting flight that he was missing his wallet (a rubberband around a wad of cash and cards). Other than on the first plane the only other place it could be was in the Zipcar we took to the airport.

I woke up to Chr's message and called Zipcar but no one had reported it and the car was already rented for the whole day.  But low and behold technology prevails and Christian gets a Facebook message from a kid who found his "things". By the nature of Zipcars there could have been 20 different people in and out of it before this guy.  I was pretty sure the money had gone missing and only the cards were left.

Anyway I met what turned out to be a mere high school kid in front of Trader Joes and he handed me the wad, cash and all! I was so shocked and so happy. I handed him $50 for being such a great samaritan. Love Brookline, a real stand-up community!

This post feels like I'm rambling but that's only because I have so much to tell you, or my computer rather. Ahhhh.

More to come!

By the way - sending in my change of name to Social Security this week.  Should I keep my middle name as Michelle or change it to Curley?  Either way I'll go by Jill/Jillian Als.  Just wondering if I should honor Curley in my middle name, just sounds awful - Jillian Curley Als bahhh. Thoughts?

zipping

Zipcar is brilliant. I just joined and I am super pumped about it. So let me break down how Zipcar works for all my (crazy) readers that do not live in metropolitan areas.

There are a couple different options for signing up. It depends on how much you drive. I signed up for the "occasional driving" plan. I pay a $50 yearly membership fee and a one time $25 application fee. I can rent cars for about $10/hour or around $70/day but guess what - it includes GAS! Can you believe that?

So I have this credit card looking membership card that unlocks a particular car I reserve by waving it over the driver-side window. Inside there is a credit card for gas so I never pay out of pocket.

Zipcars are parked all over the place. Within a less than half mile distance of my apartment there are roughly 5 different parking lots that all feature at least two Zipcars. I can reserve them for a quick doctor's appointment or for up to 4 days at a time.

Here's a fun one. I rented one for when Christian is here so we can go home to Philadelphia for a few days! :D It will be great to see the family. It will also be fun to do a road trip with Christian. In our almost 7 year relationship we've done very few a road trip. Christian is wondering if we should file for divorce now or? Kidding.

We rented a MINI Cooper. It's green. It's tiny. It's fast (I hope). I've always wanted to drive one. That is another brilliance of Zipcar. You can rent a regular coupe/sedan, pick-up trucks, SUVs, or luxury cars such as BMWs and Vovlos. Do I sound like a Zipcar commercial yet?

Anyway. Christian and I will be home Thurs, Oct 23rd through Sunday Oct 26. Hope to see everyone I miss so much. Maybe we could have a big get together for whoever is around.

T minus 10 days until Christian gets to Boston and I cannot wait!

By the way. Can we talk about average temperatures in Boston while I'm training for a marathon? I'm LITERALLY training during the coldest months possible in Boston. Awesome. Good one, Jillian.

I'm going to Marathon Sports this weekend to blow my paycheck on (unfun) things like proper running shoes, the special socks, the water bottle fanny pack (oh geez) and anything else an educated salesman may be able to convince me is worth more millions of dollars.

There is a science to running shoes, but after mile 3 in my Nike Shox I believe it. They kill after a few miles. So better get the right ones.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to breathe in sub-freezing temperatures? Or know a good way to make my cell phone auto-dial 911 when I collapse on the side of the road?
